Katalina Kicks are: Ian / J / Jase

Hard hitting London alt rock band mixing the Clash and the Kinks with The Hives, The Subways, The Smashing Pumpkins, White Stripes, QOTSA and Nirvana.

Katalina Kicks was formed in 2009 in Shepherds Bush, West London. Fronted by Ian George, (ex Kyro) who belts out vocals until his throat bleeds while hammering his Telecaster; the man is not messing around. Hard hitting drum maniac Jase Wilkinson (previously gracing stages with Swagga), provides a unique blend of Moon and Bonhamesque heavy-hitting stick-work, madness and power alongside bass monster J Creswell, who brings a thunderous low-end punch.

Katalina Kicks powerful sound developed rapidly and they recorded their debut album ’The Return of Montague Rotter’ in London’s Air Edel studios, with debut single ‘145′ released to critical acclaim, featuring as Track of the Day in Clash Magazine, playlisted across the UK and receiving numerous 5 star ratings, as well as a feature in the prestigious FT ’How to Spend It’ magazine. Their 2nd single ’Me’ was released to similar amazing reception, playlisted across the UK and also played on Absolute Radio! The debut album was released in the US in July 2011 and hit numerous college and indie radio CMJ charts.  Their song ’Me’ was recently featured in US feature film ’51’ and their songs ’Helicopter’ and ’C Bomb’ have been placed in episodes 2 and 12 respectively of the new hit ABC / Global TV Series ’Combat Hospital’.

On the live front Katalina Kicks are more than creating a name for themselves across the UK with an insanely energetic show, driving crowds crazy and occasionally ending in stage destruction antics with their wild drummer and frenetic frontman leading the charge. This live reputation led to them headlining a sell out CLUB NME show at the famous London venue KOKO and April saw the band complete a 15 date UK tour, culminating with a slot at the prestigious City Showcase: Spotlight London Festival. After recently hitting # 1 in New York based ZTV’s Indie Music Video Charts with their video for 145, the band spent spring 2012 in the States touring, bringing their insane live antics across the pond to eager North American audiences, including slots at SXSW and the Canadian Music Fest.

Ian’s last solo project, the single  ’Number One Creation’, featuring musicians from the band Remember was released in October 2008. The song went Top 30 in the European MTV Charts. Ian’s last band Kyro also took  Ian around the World. They released ’Day In’, the first album, in late 2005, which led to a US publishing and record deal and writing tracks for 3 feature films and the TV Series Long Way Round, featuring Ewan McGregor. Their second album, ’The Kyro EP’, was recorded with Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Lost Prophets and INME) and released in late 2006, being rated as a top Napster recommends album, reaching the  Top 50 in the UK. Further singles were recorded in 2006 and 2007 with producer Peter Van Hooke, which included a session at the World famous Abbey Road Studio 2 and also with producer Teo Miller (credits include Placebo, Blur), before the band split up in mid 2007. Ian was working with various projects in late 2007 / early 2008 and selling his soul singing on various  TV Adverts, when salvation came in Shepherds Bush of all places and Katalina Kicks was born!  Stay tuned…..
